representing the largest development opportunity undertaken by P&O in their core Port business. Directing and execution of the approval process for the largest port development proposal in UK history. Delivery of commercial solutions for myriad of complex issues achieving a win/win balance between the competing commercial and regulatory pressures inherent in major development projects of this nature. |
| Achievements | Creation and delivery of commercial solutions for the project, reporting to Chief Operating Officer, ranging from rail,
road, marine, aggregates, commercial fisheries through to land acquisition structures, services contracts and a wide range of
compromise agreements with Regulators, the UK Government and utilities. Creation and promotion, by way of harbour empowerment order, of the UK's newest harbour authority. Accountability for environmental issues for project as a whole including resolution of acceptability of the remediation of the redundant Shellhaven oil refinery site land, structural Environmental Impact Assessments and implementation of European directive requirements. All legal strategy, tactics and management for the project as a whole from inception of the case for the approval process to invitations to tender for major marine construction civil works. Leadership and direction of the teams involved throughout the project, ranging from external professional consultancies, individual expert witnesses through to P&O Ports risk, insurance and development team. Creation and implementation of strategies in the face of industry competition to maximise the potential investment opportunity for P&O Ports. |
